Right now, 51 million Americans are probably on crash diets hoping to lose weight without doing exercises or anything that has to do with breaking up a sweat.

I want to share with you this exercise alternative that I came across with. You can use this as a substitute to burn calories.

Here are some of them that I think was funny.

Warning: 100% Mathematically accurate :)

Guide to calorie burning activities and the number of calories they consume:

Beating around the bush  = 75
Jumping to conclusions   = 100
Swallowing your pride      = 50
Dragging your heels         = 100
Pushing your luck            = 250
Wading through paperwork = 300
Jumping on the bandwagon = 200
Balancing the books        = 25
Running around in circles = 350
Eating crow                       = 225
Tooting your own horn     = 25
Climbing the ladder of success = 750
Pulling out the stops        = 75
Putting your foot in your mouth = 300
Calling it quits                  = 2

How about that? If burning calories would be as easy as that then we won’t have to really sweat it out!

The widespread frenzy is because more and more people are wanting to lose weight because of the health risks involved with becoming overweight.

More than one third of America’s population is either overweight or obese and they have been trying all types of weight loss products and diet plans just to become healthy again. Instead of using weight loss pills or other slimming teas I would suggest you start modifying your diets first before you go on extreme. You can lose weight by caloric deficit, meaning you take in less calories than you need every day.

Platter: sliced pineapple, sliced peach, sliced watermelon,
1/4 cantaloupe, 1/2 cup strawberries, 4 teaspoons cottage cheese
4 crackers
Tea or coffee
Glass buttermilk

Overweight is a hidden disease and it is the second most common “preventable” disease today next to smoking.  It is a good thing that more and more people now are starting to be aware of the health risks that is associated with being overweight.  They are now more proactive in finding solutions to their growing waistlines and looking for ways to prevent one of the greatest cause of sickness and death, obesity.

If you are on your quest of losing weight, learning how to count calories, your intake and expenditure through out the day would be a great way to start it.

This is not a counting calories guide as I don’t want to get too technical and mathematical with counting calories (not too sexy, lol).  but I just want to give you a simple and basic idea on how you could estimate them.

Basically we all need approximately one calorie each minute, simply to keep living.  Even while we are sleeping we burn up an average of 500 calories throughout the night.  Men and women need around 1000 to 1500 calories every day to keep up with their daily routines.

As I said we burn calories even while we sleep, if you would add sitting and thinking you’ll probably be glad to know that you will burn more calories.

Here are some activities and the approximate number of calories they cost you:

  • Thinking            10 calories per hour
  • Sitting at rest    20 calories per hour
  • Standing            25 calories per hour
  • Dressing            35 calories per hour
  • Leisure walking  100-125 calories per hour
  • Light housework 70 calories per hour
  • Light exercise     75-150 calories per hour
  • Vigorous Exercise    200-500 calories per hour
  • Golf            200 calories per hour
  • Swimming   200 calories per hour

Finding out how many calories you would need through the day is a very complex mathematical calculation that would be based on your metabolism, body frame, family genes, physiology, the weather and even your emotional state (no kidding!).

A good way of finding out what type of counting calories diet you need to lose weight is to compute (don’t worry, this is just simple math and still sexy):

Your present bodyweight x 13 = Calorie a day diet

For example, you weigh in around 150 lbs right now;

150 x 13 = 1950

So you’ll need to go on a 2000 calorie a day diet to create a caloric deficit and make your body look for other means to get energy which is from your stored fat.

Following low calorie diets is not that simple because to make it effective, you will need to follow some guidelines and additional measures to maximize fat loss instead of just wasting muscle.

The Idiot Proof Diet is most popular with this kind of dieting with their revolutionary approach called the *Shifting Calories* method.  To learn more about shifting calories visit The Idiot Proof Diet and I’m sure you’ll have fantastic guidance in your quest for weight loss.

Learning tips on how to lose your baby weight after giving birth is probably one of the first things new moms think about after having their babies.  Going to the gym may be the last thing on your mind since I know you would want to spend more time with your new found treasure.

Just like you, I thought it would really be hard to get back in shape after I had my third child.  I asked for some advice and tips from my dietician friend on how I could eat nutritionally (for my baby) and still lose weight.  And after a few weeks I started to fit into my favorite old jeans.

How To Lose Baby Weight After Giving Birth

1.       Avoid Food Binges

I know you still get emotional highs and lows, that includes your hormones.  And this is also one of the reasons why you crave for food constantly.  You will be able to control this if you can keep your sugar leveled by eating mini-meals through out the day instead of 3 big meals.

2.  Get Fit By Breastfeeding Your Baby

Have you ever head that when you breastfeed your baby you actually lose at least 500 pounds per day?  When you were pregnant, you got fat because of your body mechanism to save up food for you and your baby.  The fat that you saved was for the purpose of producing milk so use it up and you will surely lose that fat that you have saved up.

3.  You Don’t Need Strenous Exercise, Just Walk

I know you are still not up to going on full blast with regards to exercising and you actually don’t have to.  Just take regular walks everyday in the park or in the neighborhood and that is already enough to burn up some calories and some of those fat on your hips too.  You also get the bonus of showing off your baby.

Wanting to get back in shape is a good thing but remember not to rush your body.  You have to take extra care of yourself because your baby depends on you now.  Learn to appreciate the joys of motherhood and just give shaping up some time.  Avoid adding stress to yourself, enjoy and congratulate yourself for a job well done.

As a new mom losing weight naturally is a must to avoid any dangers you may inflict to your breastfed baby.  Get more detailed and proven healthy tips on how to lose weight safely and effectively through The Idiot Proof Diet.
